Our thoughts on the use of AI in education.

By Stuart Short, H2t CTO.

I’ve had quite a few conversations recently about AI and machine learning and it’s potential within education and social care, almost all of these conversations were overwhelming positive but I wonder if it’s worth organisations serving these sectors considering more carefully the role AI ‘should’ play not just the role it ‘could’ play.

AI shouldn’t be about replacing our amazing teachers and support workers. It's about giving them a boost, making their jobs easier without losing that all-important human touch. Imagine if AI could take care of big parts of the administrative burden teachers face, freeing up their time to do more of what they love: teaching and connecting with students. That's where the magic happens.

They should feel confident and empowered, not threatened by AI. It's all about enhancing their skills, not questioning their importance.

Education and social care are all about human connections. As we explore what these tools can do, let's make sure they serve to strengthen those connections, not weaken them.

Let's use AI to support our professionals, making their jobs more impactful. After all, it's about enhancing the human experience, not replacing it.
