After 12 months of hard work we are live and kicking. Well sort of. The Here2there.me (H2T) system has entered its pilot stage and Woodlands, a Children's Homes provider in NE Wales has started to test out the system. I should add that Woodlands are no ordinary organisation, they have recently been awarded 'Excellent' across all inspection areas within their school by Estyn - the best in Wales.
Woodlands are currently in discussions with placing Authorities for the young people they are supporting. Once this has been obtained they will be 'all go'!
In discussions with potential 'front end' users the response to H2T has been universally positive - they just say 'when can we try it'!? However the organisational machine then kicks in (understandably) and assurances are needed with regard to GDPR and security.
We are currently in the process of working through these security issues and getting Pen Testing done on the system. We have also produced a range of policies and procedures that both explain our approach to GDPR and give assurances how the system meets all the criteria laid out in the legislation.
The reality is that the system is essentially 'owned' by the person being supported. They enter all their data in most cases, or do this with support, or via a named representative. They can see all the information held about them at any time (rather unique!) and can change it when they want.
There is lots more to tell about our current journey, including the grant we have received from the North Wales Transformation Fund for people with a learning disability and our presentation at the Learning Disability Wales conference on new technology - watch this space...
